View of Bergamo Piazza Grande

Costantino Rosa
1833

A student of the Accademia Carrara of fine arts, Costantino Rosa began his career in Milan by painting “vedute”; many of these are now in the collection of the Accademia Carrara, visual testimonies of Lombardian panoramas dating from the mid-eighteenth century. We can recognize the Val Brembana, the landscape of the Brescia region, the lake of Lecco and the city of Bergamo, a glimpse of Piazza Vecchia depicted in a work painted in 1833 which ends the tour of the museum: it is a symbolic invitation to extend your visit of the city and to discover its history and its many facets.
